PARTNERSHIP:
Security at the Ports is a partnership between the Port Police, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, Immigration Department, Customs and Excise Department and Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard, who is the Designated Authority.
The Coast Guard ensures International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) Code compliance and monitors entry of foreign vessels though the water of St. Vincent and the Grenadines though the National Marine Transportation Security Act (MTSA) and Regulations (MTSR) and though approval of Port Facilities Plans and Assessments.
STANDARDS:
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority works closely with other agencies to apply Security Measures for standardized Marine Security(MARSEC) response levels.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority continuously reviews security standards in consultation with it tenants, customers, laborer and regulatory agencies.
These standards reflect the local operational requirements for the secure movement of cargo and passengers in time of normal and elevated levels of security.
PERSONNEL:
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority employs its own Port Police 24/7 Security Department who provide security for its facilities. They provides continuous surveillance cameras, patrol vessel and 24/7 land patrol though out its jurisdictions.
CARD ACCESS CONTROL:
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority portpass, a port customer pass which is obtained by presenting a valid national ID or passport together with documents to do business with the Port.
Same must be returned on the completion of business tour ID or passport will be given back to you on the return of your customers pass. This is to ensure that only authorized vehicles and individuals can access Port s property.
PASSENGER AND BAGGAGE SCREENING:
Passengers arriving at the Port s Cruise Terminal proceed though security screening and must provide their cruise ticket and identification in order to board a cruise ship. Cruise terminal security also include Terminal Access Control, 100% baggage screening, 24/7 camera surveillance and monitoring.
DRUGS:
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority and the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force work in concert with K9 units to provide detection of illegal drugs on the facility.
SECURITY COMMITTEE:
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority participates on several security committees in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
